Engineering Cooperative Education
The Co-op Position assists Applied Technologies, Inc. staff with aspects of water, wastewater, civil, and municipal projects including data collection, data entry, filing, quantity take-offs, and construction observation. The Co-op Position also supports day-to-day operations which will include other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Works in the field, as necessary, observing construction and confirming quantities in contractor’s payment applications
- Assists the Resident Project Representative to ensure quality on construction sites
- Participates in design activities for municipal projects such as water mains, roads, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and site development
- Collaborates with contractors and engineers
- Prepares Preliminary Reports that result from researching technology, codes, and current methodologies
- Contributes to the development of project proposals
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be working toward a BS in Civil, Environmental, Municipal Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management or an Associates degree in Civil Technology or a similar field of study
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in technical writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with AutoCAD. Other software experience is a plus, but will train on other necessary software
- Work or intern experience in engineering or construction a plus
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Position duties are generally performed within an office environment with some travel to client sites. The employee frequently operates a computer, reads and writes, and interacts with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must have the ability to comprehend technical materials and to organize complex tasks. The employee frequently lifts, carries, pushes and/or pulls objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
