Grafton River Bend Road Lift Station

New lift station and road reconstruction

type:
Civil, Utilities
services:
Design, Hydraulic Analysis, Traffic Control, Utility Replacement

In 2015, in conjunction with the River Bend Road lift station installation, the Village of Grafton employed Applied Technologies, Inc. to re-construct River Bend Road.

As the road is shared between the Village and the Town of Grafton, a hybrid type cross section was incorporated to provide an urban street section to the Village side, while maintaining a rural street section in the Town.

In addition to the road re-construction, a hydraulic evaluation was performed to assist the Village in selecting the most cost effective alternative of replacing a century-old fieldstone cast-in-place arch over an unnamed tributary to the Milwaukee River, locally known as, Bertram Valley Creek.

The selected design replaced an existing 22-foot wide rural road section, with a 28-foot wide paved roadway with curb and gutter, a bike lane on the Village portion, along with a concrete sidewalk for pedestrian traffic.
